So after visiting with a friend today, I rode up to the Scarborough Town Center to do a little shopping.  Well, it’d be shopping if I’d actually wound up buying anything, but that’s beside the point.

While I was there, I decided to hit up KFC for a quick bite to eat.  I had a coupon for a “Big Fresh” sandwich combo for $5.49 or something to that effect, so I went for that.  Wow, what a mistake.  First of all, the girl at the counter chose to tell me after taking my money and coupon, that their drink dispenser was out of order and that it’d be another dollar for a bottled drink.  “That’s pretty stupid,” I said to myself, but I was thirsty and in a bit of a rush so I paid the extra dollar and took my meal.  (Really, they should have been giving the bottled drink with the meal…)

I sit down to eat my no-longer-discounted meal, and as soon as I bite into this “Big Fresh” sandwich, I realize it’s neither big nor fresh.  The chicken is overcooked and stale, and the sandwich itself doesn’t even seem as big as their “Big Crunch” sandwiches usually would be.  Not to mention the fries, which for KFC, were overly dry.

Now, I never do go to a fast-food place and expect quality food or service, but it really irks me when so many things are wrong with a single order.  You’d think at a location that gets a fair bit of traffic, someone would be keeping on top of kitchen maintenance and stock, not to mention standards.  I passed by after finishing my meal to mention the poor quality, but there were already a few people there complaining about being charged for the bottled drinks and about the food.  Maybe it was just a bad day, but I won’t be returning to that location for a while.

I’m thinking Arby’s.

  1. The worst KFC I ever had was the slightly-undercooked burger where the batter was still slightly raw and starchy. I don’t even know how they did it. To mask it, they put on about twice the amount of mayo which made me more sick. The lettuce was surprisingly crisp however.

  2. Bottom line is, I never, NEVER ate from STC restaurants PERIOD! I know they not clean at all man, the last time I ate there was 94′ from KFC and I almost gotten so sick when I was watching a movie in the Cinemas. It was fOOkinG embarrassing I gotta take a long one in the John. I remember back 3 years ago, Peter, you met him Terry one with Glasses… anyways, he and a friend brought Wok Chinese Food there, they asked me if I want because they buying… I said HELL NO. I brought Mac D’s instead for fook sakes.. 20 mins later I see them throwing up in the parking at STC near the cops car. The only restaurants I ever ate from is Koya, Subway and MacDonald. That it. If you really one a good KFC go to Midland and Sheppard one or the one near Centenary Hospital.
