I’m too angered at the ridiculous lack of professionalism at this place to do a video-blog about it, so instead I’m pasting the same review I wrote on a popular food/restaurant review site:

This Go For Tea location on Midland [edit: 3700 Midland Ave] in Scarborough is absolutely atrocious.  I have been a long-time regular customer there along with a large group of friends, and we will never be returning after the experience we had tonight.

The last few times we’ve visited, their service has become less and less favorable.  They forget orders, take forever to serve, ignore customers to chat with their friends.  Tonight, we waited nearly half an hour to be seated, and when we were finished we asked our server for the bill.  She said OK, then disappeared.  A minute later we saw her walk by with her jacket, leave and go outside for a break.  We waited at least 15 minutes, flagged down ANOTHER server, and asked again for the bill.

We paid our bill, and when we were about to walk out the door, OUR server stopped us at the door saying “excuse me, you didn’t pay a tip!”  I’m sorry, WHAT?  We left a few dollars tip, more than these people deserved, and the server who IGNORED us suddenly DEMANDS a tip stating “it’s not calculated into the bill!”

These kinds of businesses do not deserve to be paid, let alone tipped.  We demanded to speak to a manager, and were repeatedly told there was no manager on duty.  They would not allow us to speak to a manager or supervisor, instead calling some random employee to the front, at which point we argued for a few minutes and we finally gave up and left.

There are much better alternatives in Toronto for bubble tea than places like Go For Tea.  I advise you to give your business to the smaller ma-and-pop shops, and forget about corporate scavengers like this place.

[Note: I'm not generally a confrontational or angry person, but people like this push all the wrong buttons for me.]
